"The back is made of mahogany with a western red cedar top. The neck and pegbox are made of mahogany. The fingerboard, pickguard and the bridge are made of European cherry wood. The string length is 60 cm (23.6 inchs). I built this oud with 15 ribs, the soundboard is composed by 4 pieces."
The back, neck and pegbox are made of walnut, and the front of French spruce. The fingerboard and pegs are ebony, the roses bone, and the neck stringer rosewood. The external inlay is ebony-lemon wood-rosewood..
Joseph is also a violin maker and restorer as shown in the excellent workmanship in his oud.
The sound holes are placed in accordance with principles of design based the Kasha acoustical design approach.
This innovative design includes a bolt on neck and ukelele tuners. The face is reminiscent of ancient ouds using side panels of dark wood. Nice inlay on the fingerboard too..
The fingerboard is edged with maple and bubinga, and the raqma (pickguard) is ebony. The roses are maple and walnut laminated.
